Car Enthusiasts Valentine's day : We break parts, not hearts

Valentine’s Day hits differently when you’re a car enthusiast. Some of us are taking our partners for a drive in our pride and joy, while others are spending the day solo - just us, the open road, and the one relationship that never lets us down: our car. Whether you’re in a relationship or single, one thing is true - car people break parts, not hearts.

For the Gearheads in Relationships: Balancing Love and Horsepower

If you’ve found someone who understands (or at least tolerates) your obsession with cars, count yourself lucky. Loving a car person means accepting the late nights in the garage, the endless talk about builds, and the fact that car parts often take priority over fancy dinners. But Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be about expensive gifts or forced romance.

The best car person date? A late-night drive with no real destination. Just you, your partner, the sound of the engine, and a road that feels like it’s yours alone. Maybe you stop at a quiet overlook, maybe you grab burgers from a drive-thru and eat in the car, or maybe you just let them pick the playlist (even if it means listening to something other than turbo spool and downshifts). It’s not about the money spent - it’s about sharing what you love with the person you love.

For the Single Car Enthusiasts: The Road is Always There

Not everyone has a Valentine, and honestly? That’s fine. Being single on February 14th doesn’t mean you have to sit around feeling left out. Cars don’t ghost you, cheat on you, or send mixed signals. They’re always there, ready to take you wherever you need to go - physically and mentally.

For a lot of us, driving isn’t just a hobby; it’s therapy. When life feels heavy, when loneliness creeps in, when the world doesn’t make sense, a long drive can be the best way to clear your head. There’s something about the hum of the engine, the blur of streetlights, and the feel of the road beneath you that makes everything seem okay, even if just for a little while.

And who knows? If you’re out cruising solo, you might just come across other car people doing the exact same thing. A quick stop at a gas station, a late-night drive through the city - Valentine’s Day might be about love, but for us, it’s also about community. You’re never really alone when you’re a car enthusiast. We find each other in parking lots, at meets, and out on the road.

And if you’re still feeling some type of way about being single, just know this: even the CEO of Mello’s (yep, that’s me) is still single. So trust me, you’re not alone.

Valentine’s Day might be about love, but love isn’t just about people. It’s about passion, and if you’re reading this, chances are your passion smells like gasoline and sounds like a rev limiter bouncing off the redline.
